You may have noticed the Secured by Design (SBD) logo on some of our product pages, particularly in the Accreditation section, and wondered what it means. We occasionally get questions from customers about this certification. Here's a brief explanation.
Who better to ask than Secured by Design themselves. We spoke to Doug Skins, Development Officer with SBD.
“Secured by Design is the long-established official police security initiative operated by the UK Police Service.
It provides a recognised standard for all security products that can deter and reduce crime and keep you safe. Secured by Design is the only way for companies to obtain police recognition for security-related products in the UK.”
At LITELOK, our priority is to provide top-tier security solutions to protect your bicycle, scooter, tricycle, or motorcycle.
Doug Skins explains the factors considered when evaluating security products and what it means for customers who invest in products which achieve SBD, Police Preferred.
“Products that carry the Secured by Design logo have been subject to rigorous testing and have been fully certificated by an independent, third-party certification body accredited and have undergone rigorous testing by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), or European equivalent.”
What does SBD, Police preferred mean for customers?
“Secured by Design accredited products will reduce the likelihood of you becoming a victim of crime and help keep you safer. The Secured by Design focus is on the critical factors that combine to deliver a product’s performance - design, use, quality control and the ability to deter or prevent crime. Higher quality means these products last longer too and require less maintenance, making them more cost effective and leading to greater sustainability in crime prevention”
